Ask Wisdom ("we," "us," "our") operates askingwisdom.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: email address, password (hashed), display name.
- User Content: questions you submit, audio recordings, and any media you upload.
- Responses: audio or video replies created by Teachers and associated metadata.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, log data, approximate location, and cookies or similar technologies.
- Communications: messages you send to us.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to: (a) provide, operate, and maintain the Service; (b) deliver questions to Teachers and Responses to you; (c) authenticate users and prevent fraud or abuse; (d) communicate with you about the Service; (e) analyze usage patterns to improve the Service; (f) comply with legal obligations; and (g) enforce our Terms.
4. Legal Bases (EEA / UK Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR/UK GDPR: performance of a contract (delivering the Service), legitimate interests (security, improvement, analytics), consent (where required, e.g., certain cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.
5. How We Share Information
- With Teachers: the question and any audio you submit are shared with the Teacher who answers it.
- Service providers: hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, and AI processing providers acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration.
6. AI Processing
We may use third-party AI services to transcribe audio, classify themes, or analyze patterns across submitted questions in aggregate. Where possible, this analysis uses de-identified data. We do not authorize providers to use your User Content to train their general-purpose models.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 9).
8. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk and are responsible for safeguarding your credentials.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sharing" of personal information. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@askingwisdom.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
10. International Transfers
We may transfer information to, and store it in, countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us so we can delete it.
12. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management, and limited analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect functionality.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
